It’s always party time at Andy B’s at 8711 S. Lewis in Tulsa. The family recreation center that was Riverlanes for many years now has lots more than bowling to offer.
Andy B’s birthday party packages make the event fun for kids and easy for parents. “All you need to bring is cake and ice cream,” says Cathy Baker, party manager. Three party plans are available, from a budget-conscious traditional celebration to an all-out super blast. Each party comes with a party host to set up, assist with the party from start to finish, and clean up.
According to Cathy, the super blast party is the most popular. The big party, for at least 20 kids, includes two hours of bowling on four Very Important Bowler (VIB) lanes in the private bowling suite. Floor to ceiling music video screens, shoe rental, bowling balls starting at six pounds, four pitchers of soda and one free bowling game for each child on their next visit are also part of the package, as well as tablecloths, plates and napkins.
Pizza is an option for any party, as well as balloon bouquets, swipe cards for the arcade center and go-kart vouchers. “We do everything possible to make each party personal,” Cathy adds. That can be a special hobby or sports theme or a child’s favorite color. “We’ll do all the work. The parents just walk in and walk out, and the kids have lots of fun.”
In addition to birthday parties, Andy B’s has facilities for bridal showers, family celebrations and corporate meetings. Often, managers will reserve a meeting room or Andy B’s Banquet Hall to allow the staff to get away from the office and into a more relaxed environment. Large video screens facilitate all types of presentations. A special catering menu features a large variety of cuisines. Even the 48-slice Monster Pizza, the largest in Tulsa, can be ordered.
A long time staff member, game room and go-kart manager, gets a kick out of watching serious business turn into kids’ play as adults flock from their meetings and into the electric go-karts. “We actually see people driving around the track as part of team building meetings for corporations,” he says.
Groups or parties can rent the indoor track by the hour for private use. Far from any ordinary oval track, Andy B’s go-kart track can put the driver’s skills to the test with slopes and hairpin turns. Wannabe racecar drivers at least 40” tall can also gain experience in the junior rookie cars. Standard cars and double cars for an adult and child are also available.
For those who enjoy the sounds, sights and excitement of an arcade, Andy B’s offers 45 swipe card games that include driving, shooting and dancing video games. There’s something for everyone, from age three to adult. Some skill-based games can result in prizes ranging from friendship bracelets to an Xbox 360. “Customers thank me for the carnival atmosphere without the carnival rip-off. People really do win great prizes."
Discount cards are available for the arcade and go-karts. The go-kart track is open Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from noon to 2 a.m., and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. It is closed to the public Monday through Wednesday. During spring break, the track will be open every day.
